I am making a floor length silk velvet gown. While the dress will not be worn often, I do think it may be steamed a few times, so I want to preshrink the fabric before cutting. Has anyone here had any experience doing this? Should I just steam it with my industrial steamer? Should I take it to a dry cleaner?
I appreciate any pointers or advice.

i’ve heard all kinds of ways to remove wallpaper from people who have heard it from some t.v. show BUT who has actually used one of those methods ie. fabric softener, steamer….etc. with success?

I tried to use a claw, but that is tedious and it’s difficult to get into the smaller places. I’ve been told that steamers work better. I’m considering a Rowenta Profession Steamer. However, the package only references it’s usage for fabrics…I’m not sure if this will suffice for wall paper removal. What kind of steamer is typical for this purpose? Any particular wattage I should look for?

I need a fabric steamer have read numerous online coments on them but want to know who for the price is the best quality. dont want to waste 30 dollars. on some thing and have to send it back when I can spend 60 to 150 on one and not have to send it back. best quaility. have 16 year old that is in desperat need of one. Pants need to be pressed to be in better mood at home.

You didn’t give a price range, but the Rowenta is the best. It’s around $100 and it will last forever.

Usually, the higher the wattage, the more powerful the heater and the quicker it will raise steam. However, the more steam is raised, the bigger the water tank needs to be, otherwise you will be constantly refilling it. With regard to performance, steam is steam and all models do the same thing.

can someone please tell about their experience with a garment steamer? Does it really cut the time of ironing and work better? Which one would be the best but most reasonably priced one to get? Thanks in advance..
