tried steamer and rubbing with cloth black marks

I am making a floor length silk velvet gown. While the dress will not be worn often, I do think it may be steamed a few times, so I want to preshrink the fabric before cutting. Has anyone here had any experience doing this? Should I just steam it with my industrial steamer? Should I take it to a dry cleaner?
I appreciate any pointers or advice.

I have been working on taking off wallpaper with fabric softner and a putty knife. Today I ve decided to go to Homedepot tomorrow and rent the wallpaper steamer remover. He said its very lite weight, which is the reason I havent used one yet, everyone said it was too heavy.
My question is, should I spray everything with Fabric softner and use the “Pirana”(scoring tool) before , or just the Steamer? How long does it take to do a medium sized room? Does the wallpaper just fall off, or do I still have to scrape?
Thanks so much!

I tried to use a claw, but that is tedious and it’s difficult to get into the smaller places. I’ve been told that steamers work better. I’m considering a Rowenta Profession Steamer. However, the package only references it’s usage for fabrics…I’m not sure if this will suffice for wall paper removal. What kind of steamer is typical for this purpose? Any particular wattage I should look for?

can someone please tell about their experience with a garment steamer? Does it really cut the time of ironing and work better? Which one would be the best but most reasonably priced one to get? Thanks in advance..
