We are trying to take the wallpaper off of our kitchen walls and it is a nightmare. Does anyone have some tips to make it easier?
There are 2 layers of paper which I think has been there since the house was built in the 1980’s.
I have read answers on here about using a steamer, a water/vinegar mix, and using a water/fabric softener mix….. which method is better. Or do you have an even better idea.
steam, it will loosen the glue. also score the wallpaper, don’t try to take it out in sheets, remove small sections at a time.
Hi,
I have just finished my 3 bed house, the walls in the bedrooms had about 7 layers of paint.
Your best bet which was what I used is to use washing up liquid in warm water. Use a nice sponge and give the wall a soak. It’s normally better if you don’t let it dry out. Once you’ve done that you can now start scrapping. But you’d find out that you may need to go over it again with your sponge.
It’s easy, my son enjoyed it. Once the walls are properly soaked minding the electric, the wall paper comes out like a dream.
I think the steam remover’s to expensive and time consuming.
Happy Scrapping.
