When it comes to ironing out the creases from your clothes, a fabric steamer is certainly the way to go! Since they were invented in the 1940s there are now a large number of different models to choose from – which is why Fabric Steamer is here to help you pick the perfect one!
Any fabric steamer is designed to iron out the wrinkles from your clothes by using steam instead of standard heat (like you would get from an iron). This steam does not flatten the fibers, but it relaxes them – which is why using a steamer is so much better for your clothes than using an iron! You also never have to worry about scorching the clothes.
There are a number of different types of fabric steamer, mainly fitting into three categories: commercial floor steamers (these are used at dry cleaners) medium sized models (standard in the home) and mini steamers which are great for use when you’re travelling.
The great thing about picking a fabric steamer is that it can be used on all kinds of fabrics, preserving them as long as possible. Once you’ve used a steamer, which is so quick, gentle and easy, you’ll never want to go back to your old iron!
The main problem comes in knowing which steamer to pick, which is why we’re here to help
Hi, I started stripping our hall wallpaper yesterday and have got all of it off, or so I thought. Actually the previous owners have put pvc primer and then skimmed over the original wallpaper and then papered over this (the flat was built in 1900), the original wallpaper is really firmly stuck to the plaster and I’m having to use a chisel to get it off. Steamer doesn’t seem to be helping at all. Plaster is in good condition underneath. Does anybody know what might loosen the old paper? I’ve read fabric softener or vinegar? I think the steam might actually be making it stick to the walls harder!
I decided to give the armchairs in work a little clean with a brush and ‘damp’ cloth as they are dusty and dirty looking. But i fear i have made a huge mistake of using the steamer over them – i thought it would kill any bacteria as they have been in a garage for a long time.
The fabric has now gone funny and i’m terrified i can’t fix them – i think its like a velvet like material as when you brush it one way it goes one colour and vice verser. Now it has gon patchy and looks all marked – but its not its just coz the fibers won’t brush the same way.
I’m not sure if it is a velvet – i can’t describe what it is – the armchair looks old fashioned – Its gold with wooden legs and scrolly arms …??? if anyone knows the ones i mean.
Any suggestions as to what i can do????? Please help.
We have been trying to remove wallpaper for a while now, and have not had much luck in one room. The MORONS who lived here years before we moved in put layers on top of layers. We have gotten all but the bottom layer off. We have a steamer, in fact 3 different types, we have used Diff wallpaper remover spray, and the fabric softener. We have even tried a palm sander on one part, but that wasn’t much help either. I am out of ideas. And when I say that it is not coming off I mean it is like they Super Glued it to the wall. Any advice would be greatly helped.
We really do not want to have to replace the drywall due to cost and already having put it up in to other rooms.
We are trying to take the wallpaper off of our kitchen walls and it is a nightmare. Does anyone have some tips to make it easier?
There are 2 layers of paper which I think has been there since the house was built in the 1980’s.
I have read answers on here about using a steamer, a water/vinegar mix, and using a water/fabric softener mix….. which method is better. Or do you have an even better idea.
I ordered a dress and there is no time to exchange it at this point. The dress has wrinkles that seem to be set into the chiffon fabric. I have used an iron, I have used a Tobi steamer, I have even washed the thing. Is there anything that will relax this fabric?
I’m looking for a good multi-use steam cleaner with attachments. I’ve seen commercials and ads for different canister style ones that have attachments for cleaning hard floors, walls, glass and also for use in steaming clothing and other fabrics. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any personal experience or suggestions or knows of any steamers that can do all of the above. Thanks for your time!!
the cushions and wash them on gentle cycle. Does anyone think that would be okay? If so, how about drying? I thought doing a few extra spin cycles then either air drying them or placing them back on the cushions damp to hold their shape. Does anyone agree drying would be dangerous or would drying with no heat be okay? The couch is SO dirty – 3 year in the house.
I’ve tried a million times to spot clean with every product under the sun. I bought a spot bot and that was a joke. I saw a steamer on t.v. that looked like it might work, does anyone have one? Not that Conair one either.
Thanks!

I have used the remover from Lowe’s, and fabric softner dilution, but nothing is really melting it away. Should I break down and rent a steamer?
Don’t cost yourself points if you really don’t have any clue how to answer this.
I’m going on a trip in a few days and am wondering?
I know how to pack most items and the trick of putting a dry cleanor’s plastic bags over the slacks to keep their crease crisp.
Putting smaller items in the shoes.
Rolling sweaters to help prevent them from wrinkleing.
But what do you do to help keep blouses from wrinkleing? I really don’t want to take my fabric steamer if I can avoid it. I’m trying to keep my luggage to the bare minimum. I also have to deal with a small service animal on this short 5 day trip. Are there any ideas or should I give up and just take the steamer?
tried steamer and rubbing with cloth black marks
